Enable USA :: About Us

Enable-USA, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization created to improve the lives of victims of the struggle against drugs in Colombia, South America. It is estimated that 11,000 enslaved children, from the age of 12 to 18, are among the 40,000 soldiers fighting in this war. Nearly all are captured in raids or sold to militias by parents who cannot afford to feed their children.

Recently the government began a program that offers complete amnesty to enslaved children who defect from their units and enter a four year re-insertion program. These children have little or no family connections, limited involvement in primary school and lack marketable skills outside of agriculture. Participants receive medical and psychological evaluation and treatment, enrollment in school and possible inclusion in an Occupational Rehabilitation Program that includes greeting card production, jewelry making and woodworking.

Columbian Flag - Framed Quilled Wall HangingThis is where we enter the picture. The Colombian government asked Enable-USA to be a part of this collaborative re-entry effort. We oversee the marketing of materials, such as cards and wall hangings, produced by these escaped children. Our role is to get the word out about this worthy cause.

Our program is endorsed by the Ministry of Justice, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Colombian Ambassador to the USA and tens of thousands of people who want the war on drugs to stop.

Will you help us spread the word? The cards shown on this site are made by these children as part of their re-entry into civil society. Read more about the program and then contact us to participate. We greatly appreciate your donation or purchase of these cards.

Each year, the drug wars in Colombia abduct the childhood from thousands of little ones. Without the nurture of a loving family, the ability to grow in a safe environment and the benefit of an education, their lives are bankrupt. You have the ability to help us offer them a second chance at life. Please join us in this humanitarian effort by providing a way of escape for these young people so they can successfully rebuild their lives and contribute to society. Click Here to get involved >>
